GREAT EXAMPLE OF A BRITISH SPORTING ICON
Lunched for 1961 and produced along three distinct series through 1974, Jaguar's projectile-shaped XKE reinvented the sports-car concept in one convincing stroke. Of equal importance to its stunning looks and electrifying performance, the basic XKE design adapted itself incredibly well to regular updates helping it keep pace with the tightening safety and emissions regulations in Jaguar's all-important North American markets. The final cars, dubbed 'Series III' by Jaguar enthusiasts, featured an infusion of smooth, turbine-like power from Jaguar's all-new 5.3-liter V-12 powerplant and a host of other detail refinements. Two body styles were utilized for the last XKE series the traditional Roadster and versatile 2+2 Coupe, with approximately 7,990 and 7,300 produced in all, respectively.
This beautifully presented, original left-hand drive 2+2 Coupe was manufactured on 17 April 1972. As now offered, the beautiful, arrow-straight body features an exceptionally high-quality older repaint in Signal Red with a correct all original black leather interior. A driver-preferred 4-speed manual gearbox. It was dispatched from Jaguar's Coventry works on 5 May 1972 and shipped to Canada, where it was distributed via British Motor Holdings there. Offered with only 65,000 original miles at the time of writing and under the care of just two prior long-term owners since the early 1980s, this XKE is a collector-grade example throughout.
Benefiting handsomely from a documented restoration including photographs, this desirable features and options of this XKE include factory air conditioning and a modern CD player and a power antenna. The original Motorola radio is also included. Select mechanical upgrades include a Pertronix electronic ignition and stainless exhaust. In addition to the corresponding Jaguar Daimler heritage Trust certificate and restoration documents, this stunning 1972 Jaguar XKE 2+2 Coupe also comes with owner's manuals and a historical file, plus a spare wheel, roadside jack, and tools.
