A handsomely styled personal-luxury driving machine with excellent performance and handling, the totally redesigned 1969 Grand Prix was the product of a dream team of Pontiac engineers and GM stylists, with final approval by famed Pontiac president John De Lorean. Grand Prix features included stunning long-hood, short deck styling, the first hidden radio antenna, a cockpit-style dash, vacuum door locks, and industry-leading built-in safety features. Featured a shorter wheelbase than before, the tasteful design cues of the new GP paid homage to the grand classics of the 1930s. Pontiac's wide array of color combinations, interior appointments and optional amenities allowed buyers to specify a Grand Prix to their individual needs and tastes. Grand Prix powerplants ranged from 400 to 428 cubic inches and with Pontiac's wide range of options, the Grand Prix was capable of delivering performance similar to its famed stablemate, the GTO.
Virtually as-new with just 18,546 actual miles, confirmed by the Ohio Actual-mile title, this 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix is a two-owner example from new, originally owned in California until the second owner purchased it from them in 2012. Approximately 9 years ago, the Grand Prix was professionally repainted in the original Silver, with the original Black vinyl top retained. In addition to the 350-horsepower 400 cubic-inch Pontiac V-8 engine and Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed automatic transmission, the Grand Prix is equipped with factory options including A/C, an AM radio, and power-assisted brakes and steering.
Further earmarks of the quality and integrity of this Grand Prix include the factory-applied undercoating that remains in place, the detailed engine bay, original exhaust system, the full "beehive" style Pontiac wheel covers, and period correct set of BF Goodrich 2-stripe, bias ply Whitewall tires. Excellent documentation includes the aforementioned Ohio Actual-mile title, plus the dealer-issued Protect-O-Plate, original paperwork and books/manuals. Collector-grade throughout, this 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix is certainly one of the finest in existence and currently available.
