Built and released in May of 67, this GT500 was purchased new by John T. Posey through Foreign Car Center in Birmingham Alabama. Known for selling Shelbys, this is one a few that lived in the south for some time. This car has passed through the hands of a few predominant collectors and The Last Detail is proud to have this as part of our collection now.
Delivered in Candy Apple Red with the GT500 rocker striping and Lemans striping down the fiberglass hood and deck lid, this Fastback is nothing short of sinister. Refinished in its original livery, the condition of this car is simply top notch. Panel gaps are correct and the doors close easily with a satisfying click. The underside of this car is finished correctly and is exceptional. Factory paint markings are present and the sheet metal is painted correctly. Entering the cockpit its easy to see the upgrades that these cars received including the aluminum paneling across the dash and door panels, the Stewart Warner gauges under the dash, the roll bar and inertia shoulder restraints. The black bucket seats are in beautiful condition along with the dash, carpeting, and fold down rear seat. Other factory equipment verified by the Marti report includes an AM radio, courtesy lighting, air conditioning, tinted windows, trip odometer and tachometer.
The highly detailed engine compartment reveals the potent 428 cid, Police Interceptor engine adorned with the correct Cobra finned air cleaner and valve covers. With 10:1 compression and dual 600 Holleys, the Shelby massaged 428 engine is rated at 355 horsepower and 420 pounds of torque but was known to be well underrated. The 428 is backed by a 4 speed transmission and optional Trac-Lok 3.91 rear end. The car starts easily and settles into a deep rumble, hinting at whats under the hood. Reach back and grab the shoulder harnesses and strap in while she warms up. Put it in first and light the Goodyears and Magstars, or just flip on the AC and cruise to your local show, either way this car is at home and sure to bring you home an award. A thorough detail has just been performed to make sure that this GT500 meets our strict standards, so stop in and see how nice this car really is, down to The Last Detail.
