Featuring mildly revised styling with a rounder grille and squared-off wing-style rear fenders, Chevrolets full-size passenger cars for 1960 included a wide array of standard passenger amenities, many of which were optional just the year before. The stylish, top-of-the-line Impala model range continued to exemplify the dynamic, forward-looking attitude in America with its unforgettable bright trim and Jet Age aircraft-inspired design cues, representing power, prestige, and glamour in one surprisingly affordable package. Impala powertrains were all V-8, ranging from the 4-barrel 283 CI small-block, all the way up to the 348 CI big-block W-motor in 11.25:1 triple-carbureted Tri-Power tune, rated at 335 horsepower. The Nomad station wagon was a new addition to the Impala series for 1960, with room for up to six occupants and all their gear. While Chevrolet records do not specifically break out production numbers for the Nomad, it is widely agreed that the high-end Nomad was less numerous than the more utilitarian Chevrolet station wagons for 1960; consequently, top-notch, collector-grade Nomads from 1960 are rare today.
Finished in period-perfect two-tone Tasco Turquoise and White paint with a handsome Turquoise Deluxe interior, this 1960 Chevrolet Nomad station wagon benefits from collector care and is simply captivating throughout. Power is delivered by the top available 348 CI big-block V-8 engine, featuring 11.25:1 compression and Tri-Power 3x2 carburetors, good for 335 factory-rated horsepower. Backing the legendary W-motor is a Corvette-specification Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission a choice factory option for 1960. Highly desirable features and options include power brakes and steering, a power-adjustable front seat, tinted glass, air conditioning, a pushbutton AM radio, and even cruise control, which is currently non-operational). Steel wheels mounting Deluxe wheel covers and period correct bias-ply tires finish this striking postmodern Chevrolet. Freshly serviced, it is ready to enjoy with ample power, presence, and the room to share in the experience with friends and family.
