EARLY EXAMPLE OF BUICKS LONGEST-RUNNING MODEL
While Buick had enjoyed decades of success with its model lines arranged along the Super, Century, and Roadmaster, offerings were reorganized for 1959 with the new Le Sabre debuting as Buicks high-style, entry-level model. Very well equipped with standard and optional features, the LeSabre would reign as Buicks longest-running model name through the 1990s. Long, low, and wide with bold styling and a wide array of standard and optional features, the LeSabre delivered upscale glamour with value pricing. A major facelift followed for 1960, with only the roof and trunk lid shared with the 1959 model. Accents included Buicks signature chrome Ventiports, last seen in 1957. Inside. a new Mirromatic speedometer featured a driver-adjustable viewing lens and a cleaner two-spoke steering wheel with horn bars replaced the old horn ring. The LeSabress standard 364 CI powerplant developed 250 horsepower in concert with Buicks popular Twin-Turbine Dynaflow automatic transmission.
With its fascinating body design, passenger amenities and robust powertrain, the 1960 Buick LeSabre remains a collector favorite today as the height of Jet Age automobile design. However, few quality survivors are available today. This exceptionally well preserved and highly original 1960 Buick LeSabre is a welcome exception with just 55,000 original miles of use at the time of writing. Retaining the majority of its highly attractive, factory-original Pearl Fawn/Cordovan paint finish over Fawn/Black interior trim and upholstery, it has most recently been thoroughly reviewed and detailed by The Last Detail for continued enjoyment. In addition to power brakes and steering, the LeSabre is also equipped with an AM radio, front and rear lap belts, a full spare wheel and tire assembly, jack, and tools. Documentation is excellent, including mileage logbooks confirming its careful usage, plus owners manuals, the original Protect-O-Plate, and dealer brochures.
