Some of Detroit's finest automobile designs originated just prior to America's full-scale entry into WW II. Ranking highly among them was the new-for-1942 Aerosedan, a sleek and strong-selling 2-door fastback forming part of Chevrolet's new two-model Fleetline series. Production of this handsome body style resumed with the return to peacetime and continued with updated styling for 1949 through 1951. Since new, these handsome fastback Chevrolets have been sought-after by legions of car collectors and customizers and this eye-catching example from 1949 is a great case in point that maintains its unforgettable classic styling with modern luxury and drivability.

Featuring subtle custom styling tweaks, the Chevy's body mods include the reworked forward-slanted B-pillars, carefully reshaped doors to match, and shaved bright trim. The visually striking PPG 2-stage Anthracite Gray paint is a classic Porsche color and a most fitting choice for the smooth Chevrolet's aerodynamic bodywork. Other highlights include polished stainless trim, new chrome, and new glass. The passenger compartment is the work of Armando's Custom Interior of San Jacinto, California and features a pair of custom front bucket seats, new door panels, and a custom center console, plus a station wagon-type fold-down rear seat and a smooth, black-painted solid metal headliner. Other features and amenities include a tilt steering column mounting a 1940-vintage steering wheel, a 1960 Chevy Impala instrument cluster, tilt steering, power windows and a Pioneer sound system.

Ample power is delivered by a 350 cubic-inch V-8 engine mounting an Edelbrock carburetor, mated to a GM Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission and GM 10-bolt rear axle. The custom-narrowed and stepped frame is equipped with a custom Mustang-type front suspension utilizing tubular control arms and the rear suspension includes an air-leveling system. Power front disc/rear drum brakes deliver stopping power. Rolling stock is provided by a set of Black-finished custom 17-inch wheels and BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires that contrast nicely against the Chevy's distinctive Anthracite Gray paint finish. If you're looking for an exceptional custom with unforgettable classic styling and modern updates for cruising pleasure in comfort, this 1949 Chevrolet Fleetline custom is the ride for you.
