After making a massive contribution to the Allied war effort producing thousands of Merlin V-12 aircraft engines and PT-boat powerplants among other military material, Packard returned to peacetime with the Clipper as the basis for its entire model 1946-47 model range. As the redesigned 1948 models were under development, the 21
st Series Packard model lines for 1947 were now focused along the Clipper Six, Clipper DeLuxe Eight and Super Clipper Eight with differences limited mainly to engine displacement, wheelbase length, and trim.
Formerly owned by a Packard collector, this captivating 1947 Packard Clipper DeLuxe is a wonderful example of Packards last generation of its stylish and very well-regarded Clipper. It clearly benefits from a high-quality, frame-off restoration including: a repaint in factory-specified Vermont Green over a stunning 2-tone Green Leather and Grey pinstriped cloth upholstery. Power is delivered by a robust 282 cubic-inch, inline 8-cylinder engine delivering 125 horsepower which was rebuilt including new bearing inserts. A 3-speed manual transmission delivers the power. A dash-mounted clock, factory radio, seat belts and added air conditioning a factory-available item for 1947, are welcome passenger amenities. A fresh service and professional detailing were most recently performed at The Last Detail, rendering this excellent 1947 Packard Clipper DeLuxe Eight equally ready for the show field or a very enjoyable classic touring experience.
