Owner History/Manual/Sales Brochure
Ordered new in 1968, this 442 was used Smothers Brothers Drag Team in 1969. Purchased through, and also sponsored by Chesrown Oldsmobile in central Ohio, this W-30 followed in the footsteps of their famed 68 W-31 cars. After the first couple years of racing, this car was stripped of its team livery and put to use on the streets. Fast forward twenty years where a complete exterior restoration was completed. The car was repainted in its original colors of Ebony black with red hood stripes. Today the car still maintains a highly polished finish and a hint of patina, while the chrome and trim work all gleam as well. Inward, the original red interior shows little signs of use, reflecting the original mileage on the car. Features include heater, AM radio with power antenna, and sport console. Documentation includes title history back to the original owner, correspondence amoungest previous owners, some service history, and pictures of race livery.
Factory ordered with the W-30 package, this car came with the venerable Ram Rod 400 V8 that produced 360 horsepower and 440 pounds of torque! If you could shift the factory 4 speed fast enough, these cars were known for breaking into the 13s bone stock. Completely rebuilt at the time of restoration, the 400 received additional goodies like ARP head bolts and adjustable pushrods too. The car starts easily and settles into an ominous rumble, crack the throttle and she'll easily light the polyglass tires! Shifting the car is crisp and the 3.91 posi rear end reacts accordingly. With plenty of power on tap this 442 is an absolute blast to drive.
The Olds 442 is a legendary brand when it comes to muscle cars, and this W-30 does not disappoint! A thorough TLD detail has just been performed to make sure that this car meets our strict standards, so stop in and see how nice this Oldsmobile 442 W-30 really is, down to The Last Detail.
